La Plata Beach is a lifestyles blog powered by the Diamondback.
Meet our bloggers:
Allison Smith, a native of Norman, Oklahoma, loves science and history books, cooking hard recipes, and teaching violin lessons. Allison is so close to being done with her Elementary Education degree she is already planning her Graduation Day photo spots. Her inspiration in blogging about fashion comes from the well-dressed students at the University of Maryland.
Jonathan Corrado is an aquaphiliac scuba diver and a sophomore Anthropology major. His posts will review movies new and old. He welcomes all comments and suggestions, if you’d like to suggest a movie for review or tell him that he’s obnoxious, he can be reached at jcorrado@umd.edu.
Maureen Nicholl is currently a junior criminology major. Her life includes a lotta ins, a lotta outs, and a lotta what-have-yous. She grew up in Howard County, Maryland with three sisters, two guinea pigs, and a bunch of hermit crabs. She is passionate about music, which she will be blogging about on La Plata Beach. She frequently goes to concerts, where she enjoys getting into brawls in the mosh pit. She also plays guitar and the radio. Her other loves include her German Shepherd Sophie, Starbucks, going to the movies and on roadtrips, jogging, and reading.
Carmen Blanco is a senior English major who enjoys long walks on the crummy streets of College Park and sipping warm cocoa on rainy days. She enjoys being extremely active on some days (rock climbing, hiking) and being extremely lethargic on others (sitting on the couch for hours only moving under necessary circumstances). She has an interest in modern European art, film, and music of ALL genres (yes, even bluegrass).
Nadia Saah is a soon-to-be senior American Studies major. She was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD and has previously written for her high school paper, the Tattler, and USATODAY.com’s Life section. Nadia’s interests include going to concerts, taking walks/drives and coffee. On La Plata Beach, Nadia will be blogging about useless celebrity gossip that no one should really be reading and anything releated to Grey’s Anatomy and House, her two favorite shows.
Dan Masopust is a left-handed sophomore journalism major from Long Island, NY. He will be blogging about the rowdy world of technology, but will probably meander through the various issues that bother him. He prefers Panda over Shang Hai Café, and Budweiser over Miller products. When he’s not rescuing helpless children, Dan loves to listen to music, watch movies (preferably 3 Ninjas), and laugh at life. Dan is not sarcastic in any way so take everything that he writes literally.
Aurora Caskey is a junior American Studies major from College Park (yes people actually live there!) She’s a film lover, and an international traveler who loves a good mimosa every now and then. Her guilty pleasures are The Tudors and Fall Out Boy. Aurora will be expressing her opinion on what’s hot and what’s not for College Park nightlife with a a bit of sarcasm mixed in.
