In my blog, Vestis Academia (www.VestisAcademia.blogspot.com) I have shown how creative students and faculty can be with what they wear.
I’m so pleased to join the bloggers at the Diamondback online, because I have hopes to inspire more people to adorn themselves and feel how great that kind of expression can be.
Fashion doesn’t always have to be serious or all about status. Fashion can be whimsy, gender-bending, counter-culture fun. It can also be throw-back. It can be tradition. Or a break from it.
I go around campus and take pictures of people who look really amazing. I mean, I’m there, like, every day. I’m staring at all of you, deciding if you’re worthy. Only kidding. But sort of serious.

Here’s how it is: I don’t just take your picture while you’re waiting for the bus. I approach you and ask if you’ll allow me to post you on my blog. Most people are totally flattered and excited about it. I’ve had at least two people tell me that I’ve made their day. And I’m always like, “Hey, you too!” because I really do enjoy blogging about Maryland people.

This photo of Robert, a freshman, was taken in the Fall. Doesn’t he look ridiculously sexy? The answer is, “Most def, Allison.”

I’ll be posting here from now on, but you can check out all of my previous campus sightings (including the full posting of Robert) at:

Be sure to also check out the Sartorialist blog. It’s my big inspiration.

See you around campus!

Allison
